Learning about the Consciousness Quotient

by Angela Michalek

What skills do I need to be successful? How can I help others around me to be successful as well? At the 2017 Annual Conference, psychiatrist and best-selling author, Dr. Shimi Kang, will provide insight into the skill-sets of 21st Century leaders. Dr. Kang is the Medical Director for Vancouver Community’s Child and Youth Mental Health and a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Kang completed Medical School at the University of Alberta where she graduated with Distinction and Honors in Research. She studied psychiatry at the University of British Columbia and completed a Clinical Research Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, affiliated with Harvard University.

In her work, Dr. Kang highlights the deleterious impact of stress and the importance of adaptability. With more than 250 other researchers, she has identified four essential skills that can help us adapt and succeed in today’s world:

  1. Communication
  2. Collaboration
  3. Critical Thinking
  4. Creativity

Dr. Kang measures the integration of these skills and the use of both left and right brain using CQ™, defined as Consciousness Quotient.

Armed with behavioral health and neuroscience research, Dr. Kang also discusses how humans are naturally motivated and how we can use this information to motivate ourselves and those around us. For a snapshot of Dr. Kang and her work, watch her Tedx Talk.

Dr. Kang makes the science behind these concepts accessible through concise explanations and engaging stories. Learn more about adaptability, CQ, and motivation from our keynote speaker, Dr. Shimi Kang, at the 2017 Annual Conference. Register now!
