PMI Portland Chapter is a local chapter of the international organization, PMI (Project Management Institute). The PMI Portland Chapter prides itself on being an active and growing project management community and is one of the largest chapters in the Pacific Northwest.

To become a member of the Portland Chapter...

1. Join PMI Global & Portland Chapter at the same time

While joining PMI at www.pmi.org/membership/types, you will be given an opportunity to join Chapters and SIGs (Special Interest Groups). Select the Portland Chapter from the list.

You can join online or download an application.

2. Join Portland Chapter after joining PMI Global

If you’re already a member of PMI Global and want to join the PMI Portland Chapter, go to marketplace.pmi.org/Pages/ProductDetail.aspx?GMProduct=00100103100 and navigate to the Portland, Oregon Chapter.

New (or Renewing) Members

After you join (or renew), please visit the New Member Information web page. We are honored to welcome you as a new member! You will begin receiving the benefits of membership right away.

IMPORTANT - It takes up to three business days for PMI Global to process your new PMI Portland Chapter membership (or renewal) and to send us the data so that we can create your PMI Portland account on our site.  You cannot log in and receive member benefits and pricing until this happens - don't wait!!!

Network of Project Management Professionals

PMI Portland Chapter is made up of project management professionals from many different organizations. Chapter members have years of project management expertise across numerous industries. Networking with others provides an opportunity to share best practices and ideas.

Professional Development

PMI Portland Chapter offers local PMP Certification courses to help project managers prepare for taking the PMP exam. Areas of study include: Framework and Integration, Scope, Time, Cost, Communications, Procurement, Risk, Human Resources and Quality. At least four (4) full-day and half-day workshops are also offered each year, with topics such as Implementing the PMBOK, Organizational Politics and Working with Virtual Teams.

Discounts on Chapter Events

PMI Portland Chapter members receive substantial discounts on Chapter events like monthly Chapter Meetings, professional PMP/CAPM certification courses and Project Management Workshops.

Monthly Roundtables

PMI Portland Chapter sponsors roundtables in several locations throughout the Portland metro area. Check the chapter event calendar for dates. These roundtable sessions enable project managers to discuss real-world issues with peers. Read more...

Membership Costs

Costs can be found on PMI.org at: www.pmi.org/membership/types

Join: PMI Membership costs $129/year.  PMI Portland Chapter membership costs an additional $25/year.

Renew: PMI Membership renewal costs $129/year.  PMI Portland Chapter membership renewal costs an additional $25/year.  You must renew your Chapter membership each year, as well as your PMI global membership.

Discounts:

These discounted memberships are based on qualification via PMI Global.  See www.pmi.org/membership/types

  • Retired members pay just $60 per year for PMI membership. Must be a PMI member in good standing for five consecutive years and have retired from active employment.  Retirees pay member rates for Portland Chapter events.
  • Student members may join PMI for just $30 per year, plus a $10 application fee for new members. Membership is open to any student enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited, or global equivalent, college or university.  Student members pay Student rates for Portland Chapter events.  
    NOTE:  Student Chapter membership is designated by PMI Global.  It does not apply to Chapter members or non-members who may also happen to be students.
