Two Thank Yous from Jimmy

by Jimmy Godard, PMI Portland Chapter President

Thank you to our Conference Attendees

On behalf of the Project Management Institute Portland Chapter Board of Directors and Volunteers, I want to express our appreciation for your involvement during our 2016 Annual Conference on August 26 & 27 at the Oregon Convention Center. Thank you for all the great connections made, fun selfies, laughs shared and all the high fives! If you were unable to attend, we hope to see you next year!

We predicted in prior communication that this conference would be the largest and most exciting event yet; and our volunteers worked tirelessly to uphold that vision. The conference drew top industry speakers- locally, nationally and internationally, filling the two days with education, networking and career advancing opportunities. Attendees were exposed to an “Open Space” conference experience, which solidified the notion that there is nothing more powerful than project management communities coming together to share ideas, stories, and tips. The conference was designed to enhance practical project management knowledge, contemporary leadership methodologies and identify trends, products and services that enhance career goals. We believe that our diverse and dynamic group of speakers and panelists provided in-depth insights, as well as actionable and practical tools that you will make you shine even brighter with your employers, stakeholders and peers.

The August conference was our launching pad for future events that are even bigger and better. To assist us in planning them, please complete the post-event survey from our mobile App “PMI PDX” or our site. And you have a chance to win one of several $25 Amazon gift certificates! Our conference team remains engaged to review and consider your ideas and suggestions.

Again, thank you for your support in helping make this conference a wonderful experience. It is our hope that you found the information valuable and worthwhile. We wish you all the best and hope that you continue to be engaged with our Chapter. We will be announcing next year’s conference date soon. Stay tuned for upcoming events by visiting our website www.pmi-portland.org and check our Facebook page, Twitter #pdxac2016, and YouTube (PMI Portland Chapter Marketing) to browse through conference photos and tag yourself.

Thank you to our Chapter Teammates/Volunteers

“Good things happen when you volunteer at the PMI Portland Chapter!” That is not just a cliché; it is reality. A big thanks to all those who so generously offered their time and expertise to ensure a successful PMI Conference.

I would like to acknowledge the Steering Committee for providing conference oversight and selecting the venue. Thank you also to the Board of Directors for their contributions, flexibility and constant support. And none of this would have happened without those of you volunteered on various committees (Customer Experience, Executive Sponsor, Team Leads, Marketing, Registration, Speakers, Sponsors, and all Volunteers). Many of you have demanding jobs and busy careers and yet you found the time to share your passion to improve the project management profession with other project management professionals.

Allow me to highlight the special work that the speaker committee accomplished. A brief survey during the conference revealed that attendees considered the speaker line up to be the most beneficial component of the conference. That is a testament to the time, focus and passion this team dedicated to drawing top industry speakers- locally, nationally and internationally; filling two days with education, networking and career advancing insight.

Thanks once again to all volunteers who made ideas happen. I wish you all the best and hope that you will continue to volunteer with our Chapter. Together we are strengthening the project management community in Portland.

Reminder: Please record your hours. We will be announcing next year’s conference date soon.
