Logistics

Shift Description

Repack and label bulk dry food in a lively, active environment! You'll be repacking foods like rice, pasta, apples or potatoes into family-sized packages, either working at tables or around bins. Positions typically involve standing on concrete surfaces for extended periods.

Shift Requirements

Because we work with open food, you won't be able to work if you're sick.
Adults must accompany volunteers under 16.  Minimum age is 6 years old.

Chaperone Requirements

Grades K-5 - one adult for every five students.
Grades 6-8 - one adult for every seven students.
Grades 9-12 - one adult for every 10 students.

Log into your account. You need to create an account, if you do not have one, at least two weeks prior to the event.

Fill out Youth Consent Forms (if applicable)

All first-time volunteers under 18 must bring a signed Youth Consent Form. Click HERE for a printable version. Be sure Chaperones review the Chaperone Guidelines (if applicable).  Each group member will also receive this information when they register with the link that was sent to you in an earlier email.

Cancellation 

Notice of 2 weeks is required.

We are counting on all volunteers who sign up to attend.  If you need to cancel this shift, log into your account, go to My Groups, on the line with our Group Name click on the Managing Existing Shifts button, click the Cancel button. This will cancel all registrations for your group.  

Safety Guidelines

  • You will be turned away if you are wearing improper foot wear. Shoes must have closed toes and heels (no sandals, clogs, mules or high heels).
  • Shirts with sleeves are required. Tank tops are not allowed.
  • Youth Release forms are required for first-time volunteers under 18. Click here for a printable form.
  • If you have cold symptoms or open wounds, you will not be permitted to work.
  • Temperatures in the volunteer areas can vary. Layers are recommended.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your shift. Check in with the receptionist when you arrive, or if you are arriving after hours ring the bell at the main entrance. The volunteer orientation begins promptly at the scheduled start time. If you arrive late, please check in with the Volunteer Coordinator.
