The Surprising Power of Liberating Structures: Simple Rules To Unleash A Culture of Innovation
Unwittingly, the conventional structures used to organize how people routinely work together stifle inclusion and engagement. Conventional structures are either too inhibiting (presentations, status reports and managed discussions) or too loose and disorganized (open discussions and brainstorms) to creatively engage people in shaping their own future. They frequently generate feelings of frustration and/or exclusion and fail to provide space for good ideas to emerge and germinate. This means that huge amounts of time and money are spent working the wrong way. More time and money are then spent trying to fix the unintended consequences. Liberating Structures offers an alternative way to approach and design how people work together. It provides a menu ofthirty-three tools to replace or complement conventional practices. Liberating Structures used routinely make it possible to build the kind of organization that everybody wants. They are designed to include everyone in shaping next steps.
About the Speaker
Leslie Ruminski is a seasoned professional with over 23 years experience in multiple industries. Leslie currently works with senior level healthcare leaders across five states for Providence Health & Services in Organizational
Readiness. She guides healthcare leadership through the human side of organizational change initiatives. Leslie’s background includes involvement in social work, employee education, training and administration. Leslie’s experience is thanks to long tenures at the following organizations: Providence Health & Services, Oregon Health & Sciences University, Clackamas Community College and Multnomah County Health Department. Leslie received her Masters in Social Work over 13 years ago, and had the pleasure of developing and leading several patient and family programs as a practicing social worker at the local, state and national levels. Organizations of note include: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, The American Cancer Society, Parkinson’s Resources of Oregon and Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. The hybrid of direct patient care and management lead Leslie to her current professional practice of change management. Leslie’s passion is creating conditions for others people’ssuccess through mentor-ship, public speaking engagements and executive level coaching. Success is achieved with Leslie via her ‘boots on the ground’ approach, her empowerment of existing informal leaders, her straightforward, no nonsense attitude, and her charm and humor. Leslie’s industry knowledge of proven change management philosophies is solidly grounded. Leslie is Green Belt prepared in Lean Six Sigma, she is a Master Change Manager for GE’s Change Acceleration Process, and is a Facilitator in IMA’s Accelerated Implementation Methodology. Leslie has provided change management consultation for multiple organizations including: OCHIN, BridgeFront, Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce and the Oregon Society of Medical Assistants.Leslie is a wannabe runner, she tries really hard, has fun at it – and loves the bling at the finish line!

Understanding the testing landscape will help project managers better develop strategies and tactics to meet the new software project delivery challenges.
About the Speaker
As principal of TFxCloud, a TEK Associates subsidiary, John Cvetko works with companies and government agencies to improve their project management processes and supports the teams that carry them out. He applies state of the art technologies to evolve processes, and make better use of talent on project teams. John has over 20 years in high tech; the last 12 have been implementing, monitoring and testing large software systems. His most recent automation testing experience was with CoverOregon as Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V). He also works with the state governments of Washington, Oregon, North Carolina, North Dakota, and Mississippi. In the private sector he has worked with firms such as NIKE, Boeing, Tektronix, and PGE/Enron
