This workshop will empower you to take the next steps toward true business agility.
“The average lifespan of a company listed in the S&P 500 has shrunk by more than 50 years in the last century, from 67 years in the 1920s to 15 years today”… (Yale professor Richard Foster).
Conclusive research findings show that approximately 50 percent of Project Management Offices (PMO) are disbanded in two years. Yet, we repeat the same mistakes in our PMO implementations – wasting money, resources and moreover – wasting time!
We use cookie cutter, traditional PMO control processes to stifle our project management efforts; focusing on time, cost, and scope, rather than leading our projects to deliver value successfully!
In this practical workshop we focus on the value driven PMO as an integrator, enabler, differentiator, and change agent in business, development and the organization in general.
We analyze the essential model for PMO value enablement which answers:
We discuss key topics, learn in teams and pairs, explore a case study, and work through a challenging hands-on simulation.
Key take away – a PMO must deliver value constantly. Value isn’t template, tools and processes rather it is the ability to finish the right projects faster
The term being an Agile PMO refers to two concepts:
In the workshop we research both concepts, paving the way for a PMO that is lean both in itself and as a transformation entity.
A centralized portfolio management entity that enables faster delivery of products. It has various roles and responsibilities based on the organization structure, the Agile maturity and the specific industry.
Abolish waste in project and process.
Use a staggered Kanban based selection and prioritization approach, and use local decision heuristics such as WSJB - (Weighted Shortest Job First)
Local and global optimization, Kanban the waterfall and use CCPM - target critical resources.

Detailing some below:
I was initially introduced to Michael by attending PMIs professional development day session on Agile PMO. Michael was well spoken and did a great job helping me get introduced to Safe 4.0. Several months later, Michael was the instructor at a Safe 4.0 certification class I attended. It was at this time, I realized the value that Michael could have by being introduced to UnitedHealthOne. Our executive leadership was discussing the idea of leveraging The Lean Startup and Agile as the methodology to re-invent ourselves. Michael was a perfect fit because he knew how to address people's needs at all levels of the organization. We were discussing a dramatic organizational and cultural transformation while recognizing we needed his expertise to help coach us in this way of thinking. Michael has been able to work directly with us and even transition his knowledge over to a Lean Startup coach that was identified. Everyone has enjoyed the examples and videos that he has also done a great job of incorporating.
Michael has presented four valuable agile training sessions viz., ‘Agile PMO’, ‘Agile Product Owner’, ‘Agile and Scrum 101’, and ‘Open Session Agile’ at our Project Management Institute Central Indiana Chapter 13th annual professional development day event on Oct 23rd 2015. As usual, Michael sessions were full in attendance and several members of our Chapter have requested to repeat his training classes. We got a good feedback from our attendees on his sessions and I personally felt that Michael has added values to our Chapter membership through PDD.
Michael was our speaker at our May 2015 Chapter monthly dinner program and delivered an excellent speech on ‘The Agile PMO – Practical value driven Change Leadership in Projects and Portfolios’. The session was well received by the members and in fact members have approached me after the meeting and suggested to engage Michael with more agile topics!
Michael has also conducted a one-day ‘Agile PMO’ workshop in August 2015. The class was full. We got a very good feedback from attendees and we intend to repeat this class in 2016!
Michael knows what he is coaching. He is a fantastic coach and very easy to get along with. He is very knowledgeable when it comes to Agile concepts and knows how to get agile concepts across. He would be a valuable agile coach and speaker to any Chapter or Corporates that plans to promote agile values across their communities.
It is my absolute pleasure to work with Michael and be part of adding value to business promoting agile concepts among Indiana Project Management community.
I wish Michael a very best in all his endeavors!
It has been my pleasure to work with Michael Nir. Since I first met him back in our Congress, Michael is a speaker of exceptional knowledge and top-class delivery. I am writing this recommendation since our last event, "The Agile PMO" received the highest feedback possible from the participants. I look forward to working together with him for many years to come in different projects.

Hi Michael, I attended the PPM event in Zeist that you spoke at a few days ago and I just wanted to let you know that I thought your keynote was great! You provided some interesting food for thought, especially in the area of utilizing Kanban for different PPM/PMO challenges, and I would definitely like a copy of your presentation. I look forward to reading your book and am even considering purchasing a few more! Thank you! Best of luck to you!
