Prepare for PMP or CAPM certification through the Portland Chapter of the Project Management Institute. Experienced project leaders ready to become certified Project Management Professionals (PMP), and those looking to establish credibility in the application of project management processes as a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), will both benefit from this course as they prepare for the Project Management Institute (PMI) examination.
Our volunteer instructors are experienced project managers with PMP certification and will bring the Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK) methodology and real-world experience into focus. They will walk you through the skills and strategies that are essential to passing the PMP and CAPM exams.
Students will receive a copy of the PMI PMBOK (6th) edition, study guide, and access to online practice exam that simulates the exam environment.
Core study material will be covered over seven consecutive weeks with classes on Saturdays, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Attendance in the course will satisfy the education requirement for both the PMP and CAPM application. To be eligible for the PMP certification, you must meet certain educational and professional experience requirements. All project management experience must have been accrued within the last eight consecutive years prior to your application submission.
Please visit http://www.pmi.org/certification to ensure you understand certification eligibility requirements and exam fees before registering for class. Exam application fees are not included in the registration fees for this course. You are not required to apply for certification prior to attending the class.
“I highly recommend the PMP exam preparation course offered by the PMI Portland Chapter. A friend of mine received her PMP certification a few years ago and recommended taking the class over taking an online course because it is an excellent opportunity to network. I am really glad I followed her advice because it is very valuable to meet other project managers from various industries in the Portland area. The class itself is taught by experienced project management professionals and includes some who have recently taken the PMP exam. I learned a lot of tips and tricks on how to approach learning for the test. I just finished the fall class and plan on taking my PMP exam in the near future. The class has given me a roadmap and I feel confident that I will pass the test. Great job PMI Portland!” --Fall 2014 Student – Christel Mantel, Project Support Analyst, Daimler Trucks North America LLC
“I would highly recommend doing the PMP/CAPM prep course through PMI. I found the instructors were knowledgeable and their personal testimonials encouraging and insightful. They each made a point of making themselves readily available outside of class for any follow up questions. With this course I was able to achieve my goal of obtaining my CAPM credentials. I will repeat this course when I pursue my PMP. A ‘Job Well Done’ to those instructors that volunteer their free time to help us succeed!’ --Winter 2017 Student--Andrea Fields, CAPM, Pacific Foods
Our team of volunteer instructors, comprised of experienced, PMP certified project managers from multiple industries, are dedicated to your professional development and you passing this rigorous exam.
