Mentoring Outreach
Goals of the Mentoring Outreach team include:
Develop a high quality mentoring program, where PMI
members can act as mentors to members of regional organizations
Establish an available pool of qualified, trained mentors
Establish a clearing-house for matching mentors with organizations requesting mentors.
GOAL #1:
To foster professional development and provide career guidance.
Objectives:

Identify opportunities for professional development and continuing education.

Encourage participation in appropriate professional organizations, such as PMI.

Provide coaching in project management.
-
Provide guidance for the establishment and achievement of short-term and long-term
career goals.

Help prepare mentee for larger and more complex projects.

Develop good communication and leadership skills.
GOAL #2:
To facilitate the integration of the Mentee into the project management community
Objectives:
-
Facilitate interactions with colleagues beyond immediate working environment and across
peer groups.

Provide support and encouragement, as it relates to project management.
-
Provide an alternative line of communication for issues not comfortably brought to
their workplace supervisor.

Act as a sounding board for new ideas and provide constructive criticism.
