Mentoring Outreach

Goals of the Mentoring Outreach team include:

Develop a high quality mentoring program, where PMI members can act as mentors to members of regional organizations

Establish an available pool of qualified, trained mentors

Establish a clearing-house for matching mentors with organizations requesting mentors.

GOAL #1: To foster professional development and provide career guidance.

Objectives:

  1. Identify opportunities for professional development and continuing education. 
  2. Encourage participation in appropriate professional organizations, such as PMI.
  3. Provide coaching in project management. 
  4. Provide guidance for the establishment and achievement of short-term and long-term career goals. 
  5. Help prepare mentee for larger and more complex projects. 
  6. Develop good communication and leadership skills.

GOAL #2: To facilitate the integration of the Mentee into the project management community

Objectives:

  1. Facilitate interactions with colleagues beyond immediate working environment and across peer groups.
  2. Provide support and encouragement, as it relates to project management.
  3. Provide an alternative line of communication for issues not comfortably brought to their workplace supervisor. 
  4. Act as a sounding board for new ideas and provide constructive criticism.
